Sigiriya & the Cultural Triangle

The Cultural Triangle holds Sri Lanka’s greatest archaeological treasures. Crowning it is the fifth-century rock fortress of Sigiriya — a sheer granite monolith rising 200 metres above the plains, topped by the ruins of a sky palace and famous for its frescoes and mirror wall.

Nearby lie the cave temples of Dambulla, the ruined royal cities of Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa, and countless dagobas and reservoirs built by ancient hydraulic engineers.
